Deepika Padukone Opts Out of Project K Unveiling at San Diego Comic-Con Amidst SAG-AFTRA Strike

Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone will not attend the premiere of her upcoming movie at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) in the United States due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) strike.

A source within the business claims that SAG-AFTRA actors and producers will not take part in this occasion in support of the Hollywood actors’ union.

According to the source, as reported by PTI, Deepika won’t be going to this event and will follow the rules established by SAG-AFTRA during the strike, which was started last week.

The SAG-AFTRA strike prevents actors from providing advertising or promotion services, even at conventions like San Diego Comic-Con. So, in accordance with SAG-AFTRA membership standards, Deepika Padukone will not be participating, the insider stated.

Deepika is not the first Indian celebrity to support this strike. Actress Priyanka Chopra recently expressed support for the cause as well..

The Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA have been demonstrating against labor legislation since May 2023.Thousands of performers went on strike last week after attempting to secure new agreements with studios and OTT platforms but failing.

SAG-AFTRA members are prohibited from taking part in a number of events during the strike, including promotional events for award shows, film festivals, premieres, and tours.

Project K,” directed by Nag Ashwin, will mark debut in SDCC, making the first-ever Indian film to be part of such an event. The film also stars Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, along with Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, and Disha Patani.
